PXIe-USB Connectivity

Catalyst PXIe-USB

COTS, Single-Slot PXIe/CPCIe 4×20Gbps USB-C Host Adapter

The RADX Catalyst PXIe-USB brings 4× USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 (20 Gbps) USB-C ports to PXIe and CPCIe systems via the HighPoint RU1444C controller. Designed for data-intensive T&M, EW, and data acquisition applications requiring high-bandwidth USB peripheral connectivity directly within the PXIe chassis.

4× Independent, Locking 20 Gbps USB-C Ports

Catalyst PXIe-USB provides 4 independent, locking USB-C ports, each supporting up to 20 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 bandwidth and 15–47 W power delivery. The locking connectors ensure secure, vibration-resistant connections in demanding field and rack-mounted PXIe test systems. Each port operates independently at full bandwidth — ideal for simultaneously connecting multiple high-throughput USB peripherals such as RF receivers, SDRs, cameras, and data acquisition devices.

HighPoint RU1444C Controller

Based on the proven HighPoint RU1444C USB-C Host Adapter controller, Catalyst PXIe-USB delivers reliable, high-bandwidth USB-C connectivity over a PCIe Gen 3 ×4 host interface. The RU1444C provides native USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 support with hardware-level port isolation, ensuring that a fault or bandwidth saturation on one port does not affect the others.

Single-Slot PXIe/CPCIe Form Factor

Catalyst PXIe-USB occupies a single PXIe/CPCIe slot, making it easy to integrate into existing NI and third-party PXIe chassis without sacrificing multiple slots. The compact single-slot design maximizes chassis slot utilization for complex multi-instrument test systems. Compatible with all standard PXIe and CPCIe chassis from NI, Keysight, Pickering, and others.

Seamless OS & Driver Compatibility

Catalyst PXIe-USB operates transparently under Windows 10/11 and select Linux distributions. USB-C devices connect and enumerate as if plugged directly into a host PC — fully compatible with existing application software and instrument drivers. No custom RADX drivers are required; the HighPoint RU1444C is supported by standard OS USB host controller drivers.

Applications

Catalyst PXIe-USB is ideal for connecting USB-C instruments, RF receivers, software-defined radios (SDR), cameras, data acquisition devices, and peripherals within PXIe test systems for:

  • Electronic Warfare (EW) and Signals Intelligence (SIGINT)
  • Communications test and RF signal analysis
  • Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and production test
  • Data acquisition and high-speed data recording
  • Multi-sensor fusion and imaging systems
